bullet  General Notes:

Did not marry. However after his death rumors suggested that he had been married in Scotland before coming to Australia, but George Turner around 1940 claimed his brother to be single. No plausible marriage record has been found.

Bill was still in Scotland in 1893 when James married. He was in Australia by 1916 because he gave William (b1916) a gold sovereign for his birthday. William (b1916) remembers that his father (James) worked with uncle Bill (William b 1872) on the Mt Nut farm before he (James) went to Brisbane. ie around 1910-11.

William Turner age 32 arrived on ship Marathon 14/8/1904.

Check the 1901 census in Scotland - shows him living with John and Jane (janet)Turner, as a boarder, aged 29 years, railway porter, and single. Note also boarding there is John Brown - a railway signalman. 13,37,52,58,59
