The first of the family to settle in England. Descended from the Morton line of Douglas. Came in the retinue of James 1 in 1603 on his accession to the English throne. The King granted possession of land near Reath in Yorkshire. Uncertain who his parents were. See two references ^305,347,353

Alexander married Langdale, daughter of Marmaduke Langdale and Lennox RHODES, in 1623 in Dowthorpe, Yorkshire, England.³⁰⁶
