CROW, William ^42,43

  General Notes:

1841: William and Betty are living at West Blancerne? at Buncle where he was an Agricultural Labourer. Living with them are two of their family George and Isabella both 15 years.
1851: William 49yrs is a Farm Labourer and born Chirnside. His wife Elizabeth is 51 yrs and born at Ladykirk BEW. Their children are George 27yrs born at Ladykirk; Helen 17yrs born Turnton; Alexander 14yrs born Turnton and son James 12 born at Chirnside.
1881: The census for Arran, Bruce north Ontario Can shows James Crow 40 yrs a farmer born in Scotland. Living with him is Alexander Trotter who is 80 also born Scotland. We know that William married Elizabeth Trotter in 1820 at Edrom Berwickshire. I believe that William and his family went to Ontario as there is also an Alexander and George living in the same place, that being, Arran, Bruce North, Ontario. Surely it cannot be just co-incidence?

Elizabeth Trotter was born to Alexander Trotter and Isabel Atchinson and christened at Lady Kirk 22 May 1796. This entry also backs up the theory that William and Elizabeth Crow moved to Ontario as did the father of Elizabeth. Living with them is Jane Simpson who is 30 and born in Scotland also.

The entry for the marriage of Alexander Crow and Christina McDougald shows that Alexander Crow's parents are William Crow and Elizabeth Trotter, proof that our family left the shores of Scotland for Canada. Am I wrong in assuming that William and Elizabeth left Scotland's shores or was it just their sons. ⁴³

William married Elizabeth TROTTER on 16 Aug 1820 in Edrom, Bew, Sct. (Elizabeth TROTTER was born in Ladykirk Bew Sct ⁴³ and was christened on 22 May 1796 in Ladykirk Bew Sct ⁴³.)
