1861: George was born at 2am, 29 Oct 1861 at Coldingham. He was living and working at Chirnside as per the 1881 census. George was boarding at the home of Eliza Johnston.
1881: George is living at Poor House, Chirnside Berwick in the house of Eliza Johnston who is 64yrs and born Chirnside. Also living there are William Johnston and John C Lawton.
1884: George was employed as a Mill Wright as was his brother Robert. He was to emigrate to Australia in 1884, sailing on board the "Duke of Buccleuch" as a bounty immigrant, thus starting one of the few remaining Crow families to carry on the name. The engineering profession was needed in the Colony of Queensland, George was an engine driver.
1886: George is in Australia to start a whole new experience. He married in June 1886 to Johanna MacFarlane. They were married in the Manse, Red Hill, Gympie according to the rites of the Presbyterian Church. George was 24 yrs of age and living at Mount pleasant, he was an Engine Driver. His parents are noted as James Crow and Elizabeth Thorburn, James was a Fisherman. Johanna was born at Brisbane, she was 20 yrs at time of marriage. She was living at Mount Pleasant, Gympie. The parents of Johanna were Joseph MacFarlane and Agnes Eadie, Joseph was a Grazier. Witnesses at the marriage were Joseph MacFarlane and John Caldwell. 43
