Single, George Turner writes of her whiling away the winters evenings by the fireside with tales of her young days in Grantshouse. She spoke of the "dreadful time they had with the Irish navies (sic) during the making of the railway" Lived in the Turner house in Grantshouse for most of her life. Kept house for her parents during their later years, also worked on the land (at one time as a dairy maid). She provided an overspill house for the younger members of the family. In 1881 she had three nephews living with her, including Peter Hay Turner 52
