Turner Family

William Turners  and Elezaqbeth Pringle's marriage notice (14th April 1786) from the Old Parish Register at Bunkle and Preston.

Beryl says  :     The next four photos are from a historian in Grantshouse (Scotland - where the Turners come from). The "Turner's Block" is the "Ancestral" home of the Turners and birthplace of George Turner. The Toll House is part of the Turner block. The Hotel was built by Tammy Grant (Founder of Grantshouse, and friend of James Turner). The old photos must have been taken only a few years after the  block was built.

The Toll House

This photo is the entire "Turner's Block", with the Toll House the first one (with the porch).  As you see it consisted of several houses

Their grave is at Coldingham Priory.  The photo was passed down from George Turner.  I assume he took it during his circa 1924 trip "home".

These photos were taken in October 2004. As you can see the stone has fallen from it's base but has been set upright so it can still be read.  It is in good condition despite this.

Bruce Turner has kindly lent  this photo. He has the original.

Bruce thinks it might be William Turner. However, it could be one of his sons, William or George? Then again, it could be the husband of one of his daughters.

This photo is also one of Bruce's.  He says:

I know the woman on the left is my maternal grandmother, Jane Attridge. The woman I want to know about is on the right. She could possibly be Isabella Turner (nee Argo), Rev William's wife, or she could be their daughter, Elizabet (Lizzie). I think this is taken at a house in Edinburgh where they both lived.

This post card was sent to Mary Schaffery, apparently by a rival suitor for James Turner.
